Skydiving

Tandem jumping is the easiest way to get an introduction to skydiving with minimal training. It takes approximately one hour from start to finish for your first parachute jump.

On your tandem jump, you will be hooked to a highly qualified instructor for the entire skydive.  You will exit at an altitude of 10,000 feet, followed by a 30 second freefall.  At 5,000 feet, your instructor will deploy the parachute, and you will then begin the peaceful parachute decent and enjoy the beautiful views.

It's an experience you will never forget.

For those interested in taking up skydiving, training courses are available.

Important information about the skydive

  • The weight limit for a tandem and AFF students is a maximum of 105 kilos.
  • The student does not need to be extremely fit, but should not be grossly overweight for their height.
  • The minimum age for skydiving is 16 years with parents consent.
  • There is no upper age limit, but anyone over the age of 40 years will need a medical form to be signed by their doctor.
  • This form has all the information the doctor will need to make the decision and can obtained from the skydiving centre at the RASCJ.
  • Those below the age of 40 can sign the form themselves to declare their fitness.
  • Those people with disabilities are not precluded from doing tandems, but will need to speak with the chief instructor first.
  • The decision allowing anyone to jump will only ever be made from a safety point of view and the chief instructor’s decision is final.
  • There is also the availability to have the skydive filmed by an instructor.
  • He will film the kitting up, the student during the climb to altitude, the freefall and the landing. This will all be edited onto a DVD and given to the student as soon as possible after the jump.
  • The cost of this is 75 JD. If the student wants still photographs taken as well throughout the skydive this will cost 15 JD more.
  • So for 90 JD the student will get a DVD of the skydive and a separate DVD with a compilation of still photographs.

About skydive training

There are 2 types of skydiving

Tandem:
Tandem skydiving is when the student is attached to the front of an experienced instructor. The parachute is specially designed to take 2 people. The student receives about 15 to 20 minutes training which just involves being told what they have to do during the skydive. Tandem parachuting is done from 10,000 feet and takes place at Aqaba or Wadi Rum. The whole event should normally take no more than 1 hour. This is a weather dependant sport and if weather conditions are not acceptable, the jump will not take place.
Tandem  cost 240 JD

Accelerated freefall:
This is normally for those interested in taking up skydiving as a sport. The student receives a minimum of 6 hours ground training and then makes the first jump. The student jumps with 2 instructors who will control the student in freefall. When the parachute is open, the student will steer their own parachute. The student wears a radio and will be assisted with instructions from an instructor on the ground.
